1984 members of DANA e.V. have helped the Tibetans living in exile in India to preserve the traditional Tibetan culture and medicine. One of the main goals of DANA is to facilitate opportunities for self-help. This is done through organizing events to raise awareness about Tibetan culture and medicine, mediating sponsorships, and participating in selected aid projects.
Currently we have four main projects - Ice Stupa, Beema Girls Hostel, Medical Camp Ladakh, and Center for the Disabled. You find more information about these initiatives under Projects.
We are a non-profit organization and not a political one. Also, we don´t consider ourselves to be starry-eyed idealists. However, we would like to show the world, and especially the young Chinese and Tibetans, that by taking active interest in their cultural heritage valuable traditions can be saved. We want to promote diversity, interpersonal exchange and conversation where political current events often have the opposite effect. Hence, we support the creation of environment where multi-language communities see the value of different languages and cultures, and instead of accepting silence caused by foreign languages are actively engaged in meaningful and constructive dialogue.
The word "DANA" means "joyful giving" - YOUR help for one of the DANA projects is also urgently needed and it will help to make a great difference.
